New Baby Gift

My neighbor just had a baby!!  Finally!  He was a bit stubborn on the coming out business, but he’s here and he’s gorgeous!  I also finally got a gift together for that wee one.  I kept changing my mind on what to do, but I’m happy with the results and more importantly so was mama.  Little sister promptly stole the frog for herself, but I took it as a good sign!  I got the blanket idea/tutorial over here.  Hers was WAY bigger and I knew it wouldn’t get done if I didn’t think small.  I’m glad I did.  The sewing of the lines alone took a solid hour at the machine.  Not bad, but any bigger and it might have gotten ugly.  Mine is a 18″ square.

This blanket is oh so soft.  I just love this look!  And it really was easy just a bit on the time consuming part.  Think smaller is better!  I also used a larger binding.  I went with 1″ instead of the suggested 1/2″.  Babies just love that silky feel.

Isn’t this frog the BEST?!  I just love his little face and his toes.  Oh my.  This pattern is from Melly and Me’s new book.  LOVE THIS BOOK.  If you like making softies AT ALL, you MUST buy this book.  I left off the shorts, but he still steals my heart.  I love that he matches the blanket too.

I had this fun bucket made by this lady locally.  I bought the bucket from the dollar spot at Target… love that dollar spot… and she jazzed it up (yup… just said jazzed!).  Adorable.  Then, I just stuck it all in the ole bucket and it all made for a fun little gift.

So whatda think??  Made any fun baby gifts lately??  I have another one to show you up next.  It was MUCH quicker, but still a fun quick gift for a wee one.

Ta for now!
